Assistant Professor in Clincial Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is accepting applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor in clinical psychology, specializing in the assessment, treatment, or conceptualization of adult psychopathology.  The area of sub-specialization is open, but the person filling this position is expected to (1) supervise practicum students in assessment and treatment through our on-campus training clinic, (2) maintain a high-quality, fundable research program, (3) mentor undergraduate and graduate students, (4) provide excellent instruction and research supervision, (5) teach graduate courses in adult assessment and/or intervention, and (6) participate in matters of curricular decisions and faculty governance.  The clinical psychology doctoral program at UNLV is APA-accredited and based on a scientist-practitioner model.  Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Psychology from an APA-accredited clinical program, an accredited clinical internship, and be licensed or license-eligible.  The Department of Psychology has Ph.D. programs in clinical and experimental psychology.

Psychology and UNLV

The Department of Psychology at UNLV has 21 full-time faculty members (8 Assistant Professors, 10 Associate Professors, and 3 Professors). We have two Ph.D. programs, one in Clinical Psychology and one in Experimental Psychology, with approximately 40 students in each; there are approximately 1000 undergraduate majors in the Department. In addition to providing broad training in general experimental psychology, the Experimental Ph.D. Program has two current emphasis areas, one in Cognitive and one in Neuroscience, and is expanding to include a Developmental emphasis. Since 2005, this program has added seven new faculty members. The Clinical Program has been accredited by APA since 2005, and is currently under review for re-accreditation. This program has added one new faculty member since 2005.

The Department of Psychology is one of ten departments in the College of Liberal Arts, and the College is one of fifteen colleges and schools in the University. University enrollment is approximately 27,000 students, of whom roughly 6000 are graduate students. The University, situated on a 370-acre campus in Las Vegas, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2007.
